I’m havin’ so much fun right now!
I building me a web portal and I’ll set it as my homepage when I get it done. I figgered I’d take a little break and jump over here to post about it. Well, that and somethin’ else.
I’m thinkin’ about addin’ a section to THB for Self Hosted WordPress Tutorials. Now I don’t claim to be a master at it, but I thought I would add a post as I learn something new and pass it along, just in case there’s any of y’all that might wanna get yer hands a little “dirty” and crawl under the hood.
As you know, if you’ve followed me for a while, I love tryin’ new things, bein’ creative and havin’ total control over my sites/blogs. If yer anything like me, you have a self-hosted WordPress blog and are usin’ mainly plugins to get things done.
I’ve branched out and have started buildin’ blogs from the ground up. All I start out with is a template that suits the needs of whatever type of blog I want, whether it be a magazine theme, regular blog theme, whatever it is. I will use most of the built-in customization options for that template but the “guts” of the blog is created and built by ‘lil ‘ole me. Everything from the Header all the way down to the Footer content.
THB 2.0 is partially built this way, but I didn’t wanna get too heavy on the self-buildin’ aspect with it, mainly ’cause it’s my baby, my “flagship” blog if you will, and I didn’t wanna be testin’ things out and movin’ things around on it. Also, I didn’t wanna start gettin’ a bunch of perturbed comments about 50 posts showin’ up in yer reader that says, “Test, or testin’ this plugin, etc.” I do a LOT of that until I get something exactly the way I want it. I’m a hillbilly, I’m stubborn.
So, don’t be too awful surprised if you see a new section soon. If you know me, you won’t be surprised at all.
